Sobre este producto
  • While the costs of electronic journals and databases have risen dramatically, libraries? budgets have not increased at sufficient rates to keep pace. As a result, many libraries have been forced to examine their electronic resources and determine which to cancel or ?de-select.? Library personnel employ e-resource usage statistics to help make this difficult decision. This study reports the interview responses of ten electronic resource selectors at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. The interviews were conducted to determine how selectors analyze usage statistics and to determine whether selectors would prefer to use citation analysis, vendor-generated statistics, or a combination of these methods to evaluate electronic journals. It is hoped that this analysis will be useful for library personnel who seek to evaluate their own e-resources and want to gain input from other practitioners.
