- The term ‘Flatpicking’ is usually used in Bluegrass circles, Traditional Country, Gypsy Jazz, Acoustic Blues or Acoustic Rock Music. In general we can define ‘Flatpicking’ as a technique for playing the acoustic steel string guitar with a flat pick (plectrum). Playing classical arrangements on the steel string guitar already has a long tradition, thinking of the mainly in the 50’s created arrangements by Johnny Smith, Harry Volpe, Mel Bay or Sal Salvador. Oliver Waitze takes this tradition to provide us with this issue some unabridged and outstanding arranged works of Bach in standard notation and tablature: Allegro Assai-Violin Sonata No. 3, Courante from 3rd Cello Suite, Goldberg Variations - Variation 1, Prelude from Cello Suite No. 2 plus 6 other unique arrangements for solo flatpicking guitar. Level: challenging – sophisticated, 68 pages.
