Sobre este producto
  • I came to Sweden in 2015, when Europe was still open for refugees. The central station in Stockholm was filled with volunteers. Would anyone like to hear about my live stream on TikTok, which I did together with others who were kidnapped, ten years after I was freed, with flashbacks pecking at my cornea? Flashbacks from encounters with those who did not survive the Mediterranean, did not survive traveling all those miles through the desert. Flashbacks from those who made it to Sweden but couldn't bear to live here and jumped in front of a subway train.Kidnapped in Libya is my story about being fifteen years old and just wanting to buy an ice cream and sunbathe on the beach. But instead having to flee halfway across the world. Being kidnapped in Libya and fleeing again, over and over. It is a book about survivor's guilt and trying to understand how to survive in a completely new country, but it is also an account of what it is like to be a young woman in Stockholm, while dealing with memories of being sold, tortured, and exploited.SARON GETACHEW (born 1999) has lived in Stockholm since 2015. She was involved in the Black Lives Matter movement in Sweden and has now written Kidnapped in Libya, her first book.ALEXANDER MAHMOUD (born 1990) is the co-author, photographer, and editor of Kidnapped in Libya. He has known Saron Getachew for almost a decade and has written several reports on Libya and fleeing across the Mediterranean.
