Uncompressed High-Current Transfer: With current capacity of 20 amps, Thunder High-Current can withstand current transient peaks many times its continuous RMS rating. This makes Thunder High-Current ideally suited for a wide assortment of AC power conditioners, power regenerators, AC isolation transformers, and AC battery back-up devices, as well as any power amplifier, powered subwoofer, powered loudspeaker, powered receiver, or integrated amplifier. LGC and PSC+ Conductors: A carefully finessed combination of solid high-purity Long-Grain Copper (LGC) and high-purity Perfect-Surface Copper+ (PSC+) conductors prevent strand interaction, a major source of ear-fatiguing transient intermodulation distortion. LGC allows a smoother and clearer sound than standard OFHC copper. The astonishingly smooth and pure PSC+ further eliminates harshness and greatly increases clarity compared to OFHC, OCC, 8N and other premium coppers. Solid 6% Silver RF-Drain Metal: Enhances the efficient dissipation of radio-frequency noise away from where it will harm the delicate audio signal. ZERO-Tech for Uncompressed Current Transfer: While many AC power cables feature low DC resistance in order to accommodate the demand for high current, a cable’s characteristic impedance is also crucial for optimal performance. Unlike most AC cables that constrict or compress an audio-provoked transient, AudioQuest AC cables combine low DC resistance and zero (no) characteristic impedance in order to deliver uncompressed transients on demand. RF/ND-Tech: Greatly reduces the distortion caused by induced RF noise, yielding unprecedented levels of noise dissipation across the widest bandwidth (range) of radio frequencies possible. AudioQuest's unique circuit topology uses a common-mode phase-cancelling array, in concert with proprietary dielectric materials which provide additional differential linear filtering. 72v Dielectric-Bias System (DBS): AudioQuest’s patented DBS creates an electrostatic field that molecularly optimizes the cable’s insulation (dielectric). This minimizes distortion by increasing the dielectric’s efficiency at high frequency, resulting in clearer sound emerging from a “blacker” background. The inclusion of an RF Trap (a proprietary technology developed for AudioQuest’s Niagara Series of power products), further reduces induced radio-frequency noise. Hanging-Silver over Red and Beryllium Copper Plugs: AudioQuest’s best AC plugs enable even lower distortion and better dissipation of high-frequency noise than the high-quality molded plugs used for the Wind Series’ models. Direction-Controlled Conductors: All drawn metal strands or conductors have a non-symmetrical, and therefore directional, grain structure. AudioQuest controls the resulting RF impedance variation so that noise is drained away from where it will cause distortion. A fundamental aspect of AudioQuest’s multifaceted Noise-Dissipation technology, Direction-Controlled Conductors ensure induced noise is dissipated and drained properly.
