  • These are the Hachiya-type persimmon, which are very large acorn shaped tapered persimmons that can only be eaten when super-soft and dark orange for best flavor. This is the Hachiya type, astringent when NOT RIPE, but sweetest of the persimmons when soft and ripe. It may take several more days or weeks for your Hachiya Persimmons to ripen, even though the fruit is picked when mature, it still needs time to turn bright dark orange and to soften like pudding. However, this is THE Hachiya persimmon to make the Japanese style Hoshigaki dried persimmon, or Gotgam in Korea, and Shibing in China, the type of dried persimmon that is peeled BEFORE its soft and dark orange, hung and air dried and hand massaged for several weeks before it is ready to eat. Our Yuba Fruit is harvested near the Sacramento and Feather River Valleys so it is pure and non-GMO free. Organic-in-transition grown California fruit is high in Vitamin C, anti-oxidants, phytonutrients, lots of fiber, and tastes good as pudding or in fruit smoothies.
