- This beaded lizard was created by a master bead artist in Santiago la Laguna, Guatemala, a village of mostly Mayan indigenous people along the shore of Lake Atitlan. Highly skilled indigenous artisans from the lakeside village of Santiago will benefit greatly from your purchases. Colorful seed beads are stitched together with strong thread. The lizard form is then stuffed with recycled plastic to give it dimension. This colorful and whimsical gecko measures 4.5" long. Friendly lizards can add color and whimsy as a package topper, a backpack buddy, or tucked into a houseplant. Let your imagination run!

Small Gecko or Lizard, Gift or Christmas Ornament. Made in Guatemala. Hand strung beaded ornaments from Guatemala. This gecko is hand-beaded by indigenous Guatemalan artisans from the rural village of Chukmuk, near Lake Atitlan. They are made using only beads and thread, with recycled plastic bags as stuffing. All geckos are made using first-class Czech beads. Unlike weaving, which has been practiced in Guatemala since pre-Colombian times, bead work is a relatively new artisan craft in Guatemala.
