The New York ECTO-1 License Plate is produced as seen on the Ectomobile in the 1984 movie Ghostbusters. The white New York ECTO-1A License Plate is produced as seen on the Ectomobile in Ghostbusters 2. In the 2021 movie, Ghostbusters: Afterlife, the Ectomobile is seen with the original New York ECTO-1 license plate in a distressed condition with rust and weathering. The “rust” is screen printed onto the plate. Our plates are made from aluminum so they will not naturally rust. The plate is smooth to the touch, but certainly has the illusion of looking old and rusted from a distance! The white New York Statue of Liberty version ECTO 1 License Plate is produced as seen in Ghostbusters 2. In the opening of Ghostbusters 2, the Ghostbusters are down on their luck now that business has slowed down. As they pull up to a child's birthday party, the plate on the car simply reads ECTO 1 on the Statue of Liberty version license plate. The plate was later switched to ECTO-1A as it flowed with the plot of the movie better. The white New York ECTO 2 License Plate is produced as seen on the Ectomobile very briefly in Ghostbusters 2. Ecto-1a was originally scripted as Ecto-2, and only one reference remains in the movie. When Dr. Venkman is standing outside of his apartment and the car pulls up, the phrase ‘ECTO 2’ is visible on the license plate. We are happy to produce these plates because we know they will end up in the hands of the world’s biggest Ghostbusters enthusiasts who will appreciate their uniqueness!
