5 mm diameter round rattan reed in a 1 pound coil. Approximately 165 feet of weaving material for basket weaving, wicker repair and craft projects. Made from peeled inner rattan core, a natural wicker material used for basket weaving, chair caning and wicker furniture repair. The reed can be painted or stained to match your project. For best results soak the reed in warm water for 5–10 minutes before weaving. This makes the reed more flexible and easier to bend for weaving and shaping. Commonly used for basket weaving, wicker furniture repair, chair repair, lantern frames, decorative crafts and other weaving projects. The coil contains multiple reed lengths rather than one continuous piece. This is a natural characteristic of rattan, as reed length is limited by the original cane used to produce the material.
