- PEC precision squares come with an industry-standard design Unlike adjustable squares, the PEC solid square has no locking mechanism or sliding track that can wear down or collect debris that might throw off a measurement. This makes it the "gold standard" for verifying the accuracy of other squares. PEC solid squares feature a specific debris notch at the inner corner. This allows the square to seat perfectly against a workpiece even if there is a small amount of dust or a burr in the corner—a feature often missing from standard carpenter or try squares. Unlike aluminum or unhardened steel, which can warp or wear down much faster, PEC squares are made from hardened tool steel. Applications: Machining: Checking the squareness of machine components or setting up industrial equipment. Layout Work: Marking perpendicular lines for metalworking, woodworking, and carpentry.
