The content and material in this the second book in the series, is intended to provide readers and prospective complementary therapy hyperbaric personnel with a basic level foundation in theoretical as well as practical knowledge of hyperbaric chamber operations in a complimentary therapy clinical environment. Basic skills and knowledge development include basic operations and basic introduction to concepts and readers should review all of the material. The book consists of 10 lessons which introduce learners to new concepts as they relate to pressure equipment such as, health and safety, diving physics and physiology, mechanical effects of pressure on the body, chamber design, construction and layouts, Allied machinery and support equipment, chamber operation (theory and practical), fire safety, electrical safety, operational procedure and record keeping, legislation, applications of hyperbaric oxygen therapy and its history as well as prohibited items and materials in the chamber. This book is also available as an online course with certification on completion. There are no entry criteria, however diving personnel and personnel with prior experience of diving physics and physiology would naturally progress quicker. It is also advised that if you have never come across this subject before, the basic operator material be completed before attempting the foundation level, level 3. The basic operator program is targeted at chamber personnel who will require remote or direct supervision in their working day. Prospective chamber operators must be at least 18 years of age. They should also be reasonably numerate and literate and able to complete basic calculations. This book picks up and continues from level 1, Introduction and Overview, and it is helpful to have read that book first. Images used have been collected over the years and fair use applies.
