- Who Is This Recorder For? This standalone DVD recorder is designed for families preserving old VHS tapes, camcorder footage, and home videos. It’s ideal for parents or grandparents who want a simple, no-computer solution to create DVDs or digital backups—without dealing with software, drivers, or complicated setups. Before You Buy – Please Note: This unit records and converts video but does not play VHS tapes by itself. A separate VCR or video source is required. Blank DVDs and storage devices (USB/SD) are not included. Recording is done in real time, just like traditional DVD recorders. Compatible with most standard U.S. VHS players, VCRs, and camcorders. Helpful Notes Before Getting Started: When recording to DVD, pressing STOP ends the video input, but the recorder will continue processing and finalizing the disc automatically. Please allow this process to finish completely. The disc tray will open when recording is fully completed. During DVD burning, the progress may appear to stay at “0%” for a period of time, especially for longer recordings. This is normal. Please do not power off the unit while processing is in progress. For USB flash drives or SD cards, the recorder supports FAT32 or NTFS formats only. Storage devices formatted as exFAT are not supported and may need to be reformatted before use.
