- In 1979 a dark formation occurred, a black ripple that would soon become a wave: one that made a huge impact on the heavy metal world of music. Taking the name of Mantas, the legendary guitarist Jeff Dunn formed an outfit that rivalled the stage shows of bands such as Kiss and challenged t he occult themes that Black Sabbath had pioneered. He took the knife-edge that had made Judas Priest dangerous and the volume that had made Motrhead so intense, and rolled it into a big, black dirt-ball called Venom. Venom's first two albums 'Welcome to Hell' (1981) and 'Black Metal' (1982) are considered a major influence on thrash metal and extreme metal in general, their second album proving of such immense influence that its title was used as the name of an extreme metal subgenre: Black Metal. But that was then, and this is now! Jeff 'Mantas' Dunn (guitar) and longtime Venom bass player/vocalist Tony 'Demolition Man,' Dalton formed M:Pire of Evil in 2010. Originally called Prime Evil, they took the name from the celebrated 1989 Venom album of the same name that they both played on, they changed their name after discovering another UK band having the same name. The band recorded their debut release, the 6-track 'Creatures Of The Black', and the debut album 'Hell To The Holy,' respectively in 2011 and early 2012. Most recently, before recording their second full-length album drummer Antton departed and JXN stepped up and firmly planted himself on the drum stool. The brand-new album that includes some Venom favourites from the Prime Evil era, consists of eleven high-octane-fuelled monster tracks featuring dense riffs, propulsive rhythms, and intense vocals, painting aural pictures of evil and destruction.
